ALL Erection & Crane Rental Corp. Purchases 50 New JLG Telehandlers for North American Fleet

March 28, 2013 -- ALL Erection & Crane Rental Corp. has purchased a total of 50 new JLG telehandlers to serve its continental fleet. The new units, which include more than 30 high-capacity telehandlers, will be delivered in groups of approximately 17 at a time every three months. The ALL Family of Companies has 34 branches spread strategically across its North American footprint, and the new telehandlers will be distributed among the branches to support immediate local needs, including daily rental and major projects calling for longer-term rentals.

Each delivery group will include (10) JLG G10-55A telehandlers with 10,000-lb (4,536-kg) carrying capacity; (3) G12-55A telehandlers with 12,000-lb (5,443-kg) capacity; and (4) SkyTrak® telehandlers. SkyTrak models include (2) model 8042 telehandlers with 8,000-lb (3,629-kg) carrying capacity and 42-ft (12.8-m) maximum lift height and (2) model 10054 units with 10,000-lb (4,536-kg) carrying capacity and 53-ft 2-in (16.21-m) maximum lift height. Both the JLG G10-55A and the JLG G12-55A have a maximum lift height of up to 55 ft (16.8m).

All of these units, particularly JLG's 10,000- and 12,000-lb capacity models, reflect the huge changes in the telehandler industry in the past decade. According to JLG spokesperson Steve Handley, "The new larger telehandlers are now becoming standard fixtures on major construction sites. They are truly all-purpose machines that can pick and carry loads and extend their booms like larger cranes, so they are much-used companions to the larger cranes on almost every construction site."

Telehandlers are used in many construction markets to assist and feed loads to the large mobile cranes, offering particular utility in the wind energy market assembling turbines and in the petrochem and shale gas exploration industries. Most drilling sites have a couple of 10,000-lb or 12,000-lb units to unload trucks and act as rough-terrain counterparts, says Handley. Telehandlers are also common in steel construction, where they can unload steel and bring it the large cranes, and in bridge construction, where they unload rebar, move barricades, and facilitate bridge painting. They can even help erect performance stages and feed equipment to large cranes in the entertainment industry.

Michael Liptak, president of the ALL Erection & Crane Rental Family of Companies, says, "This new generation of telehandlers helps complete our offering to crane rental customer. We are known as a leader for lift equipment of all kinds, and demand dictates that we replenish our fleet constantly. Major projects--particularly those thick and with large-capacity ATs, RTs, and crawlers--call for telehandlers, and this purchase will go a long way toward meeting that demand."
