ALL Erection & Crane Rental Corp. Makes Major Purchases Totaling 46 Manitowoc and Grove Cranes and 5 Luffing Jibs
September 3, 2013 -- ALL Erection & Crane Rental Corp. announces the acquisition of two blockbuster Manitowoc/Grove packages, adding a total of 46 machines to its industry-leading rental fleet: the first package announced in May, including thirty (30) units anchored by 10 Manitowoc 2250 crawlers, and the second in July, which included two (2) GMK7550 ATs and one (1) Manitowoc 16000 crawler. The total purchase of 46 new units offers a range of capacities from 40 to 440 tons. This stunning acquisition will help meet the current high demand for equipment in virtually all geographies in which the ALL Family of Companies has operations.

Package 1: As part of a major acquisition in its first-quarter fleet update, ALL Erection & Crane Rental Corp. purchased a package of ten (10) Manitowoc 2250 lattice boom crawler cranes and five (5) luffing jibs. The ALL Family of Companies runs the largest fleet of Manitowoc 2250s in the world. A block of ten (10) new Grove TT650E 50-ton rough terrain cranes and ten (10) Grove RT540E 40-ton RTs were also ordered and will add to ongoing fleet expansion at its Cleveland, Ohio, headquarters location.

The 2250 is the staple of ALL's crawler fleet, with a capacity of 300 tons and featuring 330 ft of main boom. Designed-in mobility, stability, and reliability make the 2250 ideal for a variety of applications, from setting steel to placing heavy industrial components. The 70- to 160-ft luffing jib adds flexibility on tight construction sites and facilitates up-and-over lifts.

Michael L. Liptak, president of the ALL Family of Companies, says crane utilization is at the highest level in years, and the surge in power and energy projects, for example, has fueled the demand for mid-range crawlers like the 2250. He adds, "Fortifying our rental fleet also allows us to offer more quality used equipment for sale, so demand is met for all of our customers."

ALL's purchase of 20 Grove RT units in the 40-50 ton capacity range fills the demand for smaller but versatile pick-and-carry equipment. "In our 49 years of business, we've seen a trend toward manufacturing ever-larger RTs," says Liptak. "Lift engineers are designing heavier lifts, and manufacturers have been making the larger RTs more mobile. That slowed demand for 30- to 50-ton RTs for a while. But now we're seeing a renewed interest in these smaller footprint machines. There will always be a need," he adds.

Package 2: The ALL Erection & Crane Rental Corp. added to its 2013 equipment order from Manitowoc/Grove with a third quarter package that includes cranes from 90- to 440-ton capacities: one (1) Manitowoc 16000 crawler (up to 440 USt), ideal for bridge work, powerhouse projects, wind farms, or any project needing extreme capacity, mobility, and a compact footprint; two (2) Grove GMK7550 (550 USt/499 mt), Grove's flagship mobile all-terrain hydraulic crane; two (2) Grove GMK5165 (165 USt/149 mt) with a 197 ft 6-section main boom; two (2) Grove RT9150E (150 USt/136 mt), the world's largest-capacity RT crane, having the longest main boom (197 ft/60 mt) on any current production RT crane; four (4) Grove RT9130E (130 USt/118 mt) with a 160-ft (49 mt) five section, full power boom; and five (5) Grove RT890E (90 USt/82 mt) with a 142 ft. (43 mt) full power boom.

"We are adding to our already considerable resources to handle incoming jobs in virtually all developed sectors," said Liptak, adding that, "the purchase of the Model 16000 crawler and these versatile GMK7550s demonstrates our commitment to continuous upgrading of our fleet in all capacity ranges. These are heavy hitters, but the demand is there right now and the pricing worked in our favor."

Liptak explains that ALL is committed to having the most technologically fleet and a complete range of equipment to fill customers' requirements -- local, regional, and continental. "Many of the new units will augment demand at our Cleveland yard, but with 34 branches across North American, the Grove/Manitowoc products have been strategically earmarked for distribution to all of our yards."
